Jan Jacob Coenraad Spohler was the first born son of the well known Dutch artist Jan Jacob Spohler. Information concerning Spohler's formal education is sparse. It is evident, that Spohler followed in his father’s footsteps.
Like his father, Spohler dedicated his life to the portrayal of the Dutch landscapes and cityscapes and became a well known painter himself. These Spohler paintings are a fine example of his work, showing a great ability to work on a small scale, executing his scene paintings with a remarkable eye for detail. |
