OIL PAINTING:  Claude Monet Painting in his Garden at Argenteuil, 1875

Renoir painted landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and modern life. His late Paintings were mostly nude figures. Renoir paintings are about pleasure, and reveal no great seriousness. He shocked Gleyre by saying, 'if painting were not a pleasure to me I should certainly not do it'.
