OIL PAINTING : Autumn, 1859 |
|
Inness painted landscapes that were less detailed and more personal. Rather than show every detail in a landscape, Inness used swirling, fuzzy brushstrokes. He wanted his landscape paintings to give people a certain feeling or mood. His late paintings also were influenced by his growing spirituality and the belief that nature and the spiritual world were connected.
Look at Inness' Autumn - it can only be Autumn and no other season.
