Alfred de Breanski Biography
Now one of last century"s most popular landscape painters,
Alfred De Breanski was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy from 1872 to 1890, as well as at the Suffolk Street galleries of the Royal Society of British Artists. Breanski specialised in Welsh and Scottish mountain scenery paintings, although also painted views on the Thames near his home at Cookham. Breanski usually inscribed his paintings with title and date on the reverse. His brother Gustav de Breanski and son Alfred de Breanski Jnr were also painters, and he also had another son, Arthur, who only produced a small number of oil paintings.
