Frederick Morgan Biography

Victorian era painter Frederick Morgan (1856-1927) specialized in paintings of children, rustic idealized peasants, baby animals, and jolly sailors with twinkling eyes. Frederick Morgan paintings were very numerous, and very popular, and several were reproduced as prints. Frederick Morgan's subjects had direct appeal. Fred Morgan lived in Aylesbury, and later in London. As well as light-hearted subjects, Morgan also made some good attempts at serious painting such as “The Pedlar". "His Turn Next", a painting of children and dog with bath was an advertisement for Pears Soap. Frederick Morgan is beloved for his paintings of children of the 19th century as they play.
