Francesco Paolo Michetti Biography

Francesco Paolo Michetti learned how to paint from a local fresco artist. He traveled to Naples in 1868 and studied at the academy there. He exhibited at the Paris Salons of 1872 and 1875 and was a member of the Neapolitan art group, Scuola di Resina. In 1872, he began creating small clay sculptures. After receiving unenthusiastic reviews at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris, Michetti stopped painting, sold his studio and became a recluse.
