William Mulready Biography

William Mulready was an Irish painter from Ireland who was living in London. He is best known for his open air romantic figure compositions.
Like William Etty, Mulready maintained a regular practice of drawing from the nude, As Visitor at the Roval Academy he joined students in drawing from the model, and attended a lite-class he helped establish in Kensington. Mulready may have been inspired by the Etty retrospective at the Society of Arts in 1849 to paint the nude, combining skills of observation attained through dedicated study with inventive composition.
