A Wintry Moon ( Oil Painting Reproduction Detail )
Born in Leeds, Grimshaw first began painting while working as a clerk for the Great Northern Railway. He made his name as a painter of urban streets and dockyards shown at sunset, by moonlight or in the rain. His very particular vision of Victorian Britain proved so popular that his style and subject matter changed little during his career.
