OIL PAINTING: The Artist's Garden at Eragny, 1898
Pissaro was the oldest of the French Impressionist painters and also among the most committed to the group's independent exhibitions. Living in countryside to the north of Paris, Pissaro's landscapes were often peopled with peasants. These figures became the focus of Pissaro's paintings when he adopted the pointillist technique in the 1880s.
