OIL PAINTING: Dance at Bougival, 1883
Renoir and Claude Monet
were the primary originators of Impressionism and are credited with the 'First' Impressionistic Paintings
in 1869. They painted together often and their early work is indistinguishable from each other's. Soon, Renoir became uncomfortable as an Impressionist rebel and began painting in a more structured style, known as his "Dry Period." His series of "Dancing" paintings were completed during this period.
