In 1911 de Laszlo , another artist of the time of Sargent , visited Welbeck Abbey, home of the Duke and Winifred, Duchess of Portland , both of whom had already been painted by Sargent. De Laszlo painted portraits of them both, and over the next twenty-six years he was to paint and draw numerous portraits of them and various members of their family.
