OIL PAINTING: Sainte-Victoire Mountain, 1885
Situated between the Tholonet and Vauvenargues roads, the rocky plateau of Bibemus has been quarried for stone since ancient times. Cezanne was able to rent a hut there where he kept his oil paintings and stay overnight, if required. The site with ochre-colored rock faces provided Cezanne with remarkable landscapes to paint (view over Mount Sainte-Victoire).
