OIL PAINTING: Still Life of Roses
Exquisite masterpieces by the most important Austrian Biedermeier painters, including Friedrich von Amerling, Franz Eybl and Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller, offer an impressive insight into the period between the Vienna Congress in 1815 and the Revolution in 1848. Situated in between Romanticism and Realism, the Biedermeier period was characterised by the simple pleasures of the bourgeois home but also by terrible social conditions.
To this day we are enthralled by the technical perfection of the flower and fruit arrangements by Franz Eybl - Rosenstilleben, Frau Nadassy, 1839, Stilleben mit Pokalen und Fruchten, 1850.
