Orientalism Paintings
Much of Orientalist art depicts idealised or even fictional versions of the East (ie Asia and North Africa) although it is based on real observations of these cultures. Orientalism is especially well represented in nineteenth century painting, but is also an important thread in sculpture, literature, dramatic arts and even travel writing.
